I understand the company wanted free labor but why were my parents so submissive and subservient to a company they never even heard of it like were acting like I was Luijiing a CEO. It’s like they wanted me to fail and lose. It was outright sabotage if I listened to them I’d be working retail right now for 10 dollars an hour which they call “noble job”.

you biggest mistake was listening to your parents. Unfortunately I also did and wasted 10 years of my life thanks to their stupid advices. Had to literally change my profession at 30yo because I listened to my parents and went to dead end low paying job first. There is something wrong with boomers like they have some malicious devilish idea to check how much they can fuck over their own kids life so then then can tell their boomer friends whose kids are biggest losers.
Best thing I did in my life was to cut ties with parents, I call them couple times a year, visited them 4 times in last 10 years and over time they actually start to treat me better.

if your parents are toxic boomers (and by what you wrote im 99% sure they are) your only chance is to live alone and if you can't afford that now, at very least do not listen to what they tell. Do your own research, their advice is generations old, it will not work in this economy

Plan for being independent, take that money and go to school for a ticketed trade, be a machine operator or something, don't blow it.

You can use that to set yourself up to not be reliant on them, 20k is enough for a cheap car and everything you need for a landscaping company if you have a friend or two that can suffer low wages until you get going.

They crippled me for life by not telling me my brother was a theif with a drug addiction, they all knew full well and being the gossiping fucks they are, where their on the phone the second they have an embarrassing story about others, it was a deliberate and calculated act to teach me a lesson.
