As a liberal I’m saddened by the direction things are going. I see the vitriol on /pol/ has spilled over to more mainstream socials like X and it makes me upset. I know I will be largely unaffected, being a white guy in a nice neighborhood, but seeing your worldview crash and burn still hurts. I miss the time of joy and optimism for a united future. I really believed in it and liberalism as a whole. Part of me thinks that the state of the economy is largely to blame but I also think it’s naive to dismiss human nature and our tribal tendencies. Either way, I’ve mostly clocked out of politics and now see myself as a spectator for what I think will be hard times for many.

On average you get about 10-15 years of ideological dominance followed by the other side getting 10-15 years of ideological dominance. We saw the 60's new hope flower power erode to Nixon and Reagan, then the 80's Religious Right erode to Clinton and Obama Uber-Liberalism, now the Uber-Left is eroding to the MAGA Movement, and someday that too shall erode to whatever left wing ideology rises in the next 5-10 years. Our culture has exhibited this pattern over and over again. Liberalism isn't dead, and when liberalism comes back to life, conservativism won't be dead either.

Tbh, to me, it does seem like we’re going through one of those recurring anti-immigration phases the U.S. (and the West in general) but It does feel different. Combination of economic strain, wealth concentrated, living paycheck to paycheck, open corruption, watching the middle class erode, and all that anger just gets redirected towards unfortunate immigrants. I used to think like this (economic issues are causes, social issues are symptoms), but one of the biggest worldview shifts I had as I matured was realizing that that the categories themselves make no sense.

When people are split into factions based on a false dichotomy then you get dysfunction regardless of which side is winning. Just like with the "social vs economic" types, you are working within a false dichotomy. Genetics vs environment is a false dichotomy because for social animals the genes are part of the environment. From my perspective my genes are a "genetic factor". From your perspective my genes are en "environmental factor". The genetics of the people around you is part of your "geography".

The idea that genes and environment are separate is an approximation that only holds for simple non-social lifeforms, while for highly social lifeforms genetics and environment become entangled. People are so stuck in the peer pressure of groups, and I believe it stems from the politics of the government taking 40% tax, and much higher rates for big businesses, making you feel like you can never be your own success.
There's inequality in competition, sure, but we aren't all equal. It doesn't make sense to try and make everybody equal since we simply aren't. There will always be herbivores of society who just want a family with kids, and feel comfortable living among friends and expecting the same amount of contribution from each other.
But there will also be a subset of people who are never comfortable just following in line, and need to be the lone wolves, and some of them are exactly the kinds of people that end up as CEOs or music artists.
But everything is so claustrophobically social, and it's only gotten worse over time because the US capitalism stopped being an effective export, and now it's arguably being eroded by us from Europe. Because people started caring solely about women's rights and worker's rights, and don't realize that you won't get amazing things like really cool movies or great music concerts and innovative video games if you turn socialist/communist. Then everything becomes part state-owned.

Take away the ability to discriminate and competitive strategies start beating cooperative strategies. For example there are even some plants that have evolved to switch between competitive and cooperative behavior, and the trigger is how closely related they are to the other plants around them. Put them in a "multicultural" environment and they behave competitively. Put them in segregated environments and they behavior cooperatively.

This is a massive error that leftists always make. All stable systems *must* have competition somewhere because stability requires a negative feedback loop and negative feedback loops require competing forces. Cancer-like growth always requires a positive feedback loop, and positive feedback loops require all forces to be acting in the same direction, ie no competing forces.

This is actually a good example of the above. You just contradicted yourself here. What you are advocating literally is competition. Regulation is competition because the goals of the regulators are inherently opposed to the goals of the people they are regulating. By introducing regulation into the system you are introducing competition because the entire purpose of the regulator is to act as a competing force against whatever is being regulated.

This is a good lesson in why abstractions make cooperation difficult. When you say "competition" I suspect you don't actually mean competition (otherwise you wouldn't be advocating regulation), I suspect you mean something far more specific, but by using a term that is more abstract than what you actually mean it results in miscommunication, which in turn makes it harder for people to cooperate with you. As a rule of thumb, never be more abstract than you need to be when naming an enemy/problem/etc. This is because widening the net beyond what is needed to catch the enemy doesn't provide any extra benefit in fighting the enemy, it just risks catching potential allies in the net, and if potential allies are afraid that they might get become collateral they won't become actual allies.

All you need to do to infer that genetics matters is to control for environment. In fact there is a definition of capitalism: the ideology and practice of making profit off of investment (capital) and then reinvesting the profit. This didn't become standards until the 1600s and 1700s. Before then, people rarely invested (mostly, big projects were left to states) and, when some people did make windfalls off of investment, they then spent the profits on personal palaces and stuff like that, not on further productive endeavors that would build new industries.
That's the standard definition of capitalism.

Yes, and basically every usage of the term "capitalism" in the modern world is ideosyncratic, that's why nobody is able to organize around "anticapitalism".
