Issue is there's to much bigger houses that were built and there isn't enough upper middle class people to buy them. These houses are around 1800-2400 square feet. Builders sensed blood for years and neglected to keep building homes for middle and low middle classes you know like 1200-1600 square foot 3 bed 2 bath homes.

Anon I get that you are pro business and that's fine. But what's going on is builders for the past 5 years or so chose as much profit maximization as possible. They started aggressively building bigger homes for wealthier people because they were getting sales. Issue is now that wealthy customer base is either burnt out or wealthy people are refusing to buy becouse of economic woes. Builders could've kept on building average homes and took a modest profit but it's way to late now. There's lots of builders with giant homes in the market that are not selling.

They didn't override shit they just decided to sell their property and invest their money else where. If the city feels it has to walk back it decision because of this that's on them. The developer has to make a profit to keep on building houses. If the area is rent controlled it automatically lowers the value of the property because people know that when they set rent that they have to live with that rent forever or for how long the city dictates they can't raise rent. That means the developer is less likely to break even or make a profit which is a threat to their business so they just develop elsewhere. The government thinks it just had the authority to tell you to eat shit and then gets shocked when people find ways to avoid eating that shit. If the city wants rent control and development they should subsides the developers to build where they are less likely to make money.

Most developers aren't billionaires. They might be millionaires, but when you are building housing that isn't actually a lot of money. They have to be wise or they could very realistically go into debt. Hell a lot of them are heavily in debt to the banks and are borrowing against the land that bought. When development finishes they sell that land and use a lot of it to repay the banks. Also why shouldn't the guys building your shelter make good money? They're providing a good that you admit is extremely valuable and desirable. If that is the case why shouldn't they be rewarded?

The government should pay some Chinese company to build commie-like apartment buildings for middle-class buyers.

Young people getting to the point they're looking for their own place are the main problem I see here. While the greater security it would provide to long time residents seems fine to me in regards to people native to the city vs those moving into it wherever there's a shortage of older housing it also creates a problem where the youngest residents who aren't already established in the area for completely different reasons to those moving there are at a disadvantage and also tend to have lower incomes than both older people and incoming professional workers. I can't think of a way to both give preference to established residents while avoiding generational disparities while also allowing new construction to be exempt or even how to give preference to established residents over people immigranting to the city at all without having that same pitfall of age and established income and career right now.

What do you suggest? It's not like people in cities even have children anyway. The only way rent will go down is if there is less demand. Trying to artificially make rent less expensive never works. Another solution is to ban Airbnb and to make rich people sell all the vacation apartments they don't use. But even that is temporary; those cities need commie-like apartment buildings to survive.

City pulls the permits. Trains it's citizens to build houses , offers housing lot's on the same lot's of land that the developers were hoping to acquire. People get houses that are better than tents. Pushing rent even further down. Land lords start slacking on upkeep. Pass a law that makes it to where property owners who don't maintain upkeep are subject to contractor leins

This is one of the things a lot of people don't get when I say that the peculiarities of the US are often due to desegregation. If segregation was allowed then cheap developments would happen they would just build a white only or black only cheap suburb.

I was going to make a concern troll post or rage bait but I'll just tell you the truth. The truth is something eventually has to give. The people in leadership of all corporations are just people. Eventually when one group of people (the people who can't afford anything) get mad, they drag the wealthy people down with them. The masses are very stupid but indirectly from the mires of self sabotage they make everyone suffer.

The glut from these corporations has just made an easy scapegoat for people's pain and in fact I speculate this is on purpose to dissuade, deter and divide people on who is to blame. So instead of the failing and ailing state of the US government, many will probably go after a mixed bag of public antagonists. Within three years the US will be unrecognizable as civil strife escalates. This is by design to cause a pretense for world war. War is the best distraction the US needs right now. But what the US government and corporations cannot truly fathom is that people sre utterly sick of their shit. The issue is that White people treat each other like shit and tear each other down. Other races see a potentially successful member of their tribe and do everything they can to support them. They understand that one member's success is everyone's success.

White people don't do this. When we are down, we try to tear down those Whites that are up. And when we get up, we feel superior to less successful Whites and shit on them instead of trying to lift them up. We don't see each other as members of a group. We see each other as competition.

In a homogeneous society, this is an advantage. Everyone acting in their own self-interests generally produces the best outcomes for everyone. In a multi-cultural society, its an extreme handicap. Even though it produces worse results for society as a whole, tribalism produces better results for members of the tribe operating within that society.

Jews know this. Indians know this. Niggers know this. Spics know this. They have a vested interest in making sure White people don't start behaving in a tribal manner. Not only would that produce more competition for their tribe, but it would also decrease the amount of people acting in their own self interests, which benefits society as a whole, White people acting tribal would be a net loss, both in a decrease of societal benefit but also in increased tribal competition.
