Why do Westerners think there's a link between the immigration backlash and Ishiba's resignation?

His statements led to large demonstrations in Japan which is a rare thing. The LDP sensed the danger because they already got their numbers gutted by Nippon Ishin Kai, Sanseito + some others I dont care about. Its a backbench rebellion. Japan won't be getting jeeted super hard.

Ishaba was a classic nice guy. Policy he is bringing to Japan isn't his at all. Zainiches in Parliament created it and used him to a punch bug after.
Hold strong ishiba

They will remain in effect even if he resigns.
However, the next prime minister will fix them to boost his supporting rate.

Well there's an indirect link since he resigned because his party lost seats to Sanseito that only gained traction because of immigration

In my country, they cling onto their job, deny they're doing it, keep them coming, and arrest you when you question it

he erased all of Japan's postwar immigration records. He must be hiding something.
