Why is no one in the US buying American made products?
Even the biggest patriots, at least on words.

GMC, Ford, and Dodge have all had major engine problems and serious quality control issues in the last 5 years.
It's to the point that it's not worth the risk of spending $50-80k on some new shitbox that might leave you with nothing to show for yourself in a few years. And even if it stays alive past 80k miles, you're still possibly going to wind up with tens of thousands of dollars in repairs and upkeep.
And when you decide it's not worth it anymore, it will be 'worth' 20% what you paid for it as a trade-in. Or maybe 35% if you can find a gullible buyer.

I've been on the market for a full size SUV for my wife to cart the kids around town in. They're getting bigger, and loading their friends in to go do activities, etc, requires a lot of space. Equipment, schoolbags, etc.
So I was looking at a new GMC Yukon, Ford Expedition, Lincoln Navigator, etc. And ultimately I saw so many reasons NOT to buy right now that I told her we'd be better off waiting a couple years to see what happens to the quality problem. Either that or get a Toyota Sequoia or whatever their version of the full size SUV is. Nissan Armada, whatever. But even then, those things are vastly overpriced for what they are, and there are currently dealer markups making them cost nearly as much as the Navigator - which is supposed to be a consumer-luxury sort of car.
I caught myself seriously considering just going for the Escalade despite the insane cost, just so we could have something reliable.

The Ford F150 is the second best selling vehicle in the USA. The Toyota Rav4 just took the number 1 spot this year.
Hilariously I saw a guy in a shiny new F150 stuck blocking a gas station parking lot because his transmission locked up on him just last week.

I’ve only ever bought and driven Fords. German and Asian cars are built with delicate parts meant to break every 10k miles to rack up the expensive proprietary servicing, while American cars are built with straight steel beams meant to last 150k miles without issue and be easily serviceable by any independent 80-IQ mechanic up to 300k miles.

Anon you are really dumb. go on any used car website right now
Look for any US brand with an affordable sedan that has more then 200k miles.
Then look up the toyota corolla and see how many are above 200k miles.
American cars are terrible. They have no quality control and spent decades playing catch up with the japanese. Lost all goodwill from buyers in the meantime.

Per the Ford vs. Dodge lawsuit back in the day, it is illegal for an American automaker to produce a quality vehicle, every effort MUST be made to fuck the customer (and employees) as hard as possible at all times, so that jews can pump and dump the stock price.

i wish they still made those. probably the coolest modern american car ever made. and still pretty competitive when boosted. still hangs with boosted huracan / r8s at texas2k

>ctsv
the cadillacs get a pass. i really wish the ct4-v blackwing came with a v8 instead of a mediocre turbo 6. why try to compete with the germans at their game when that alternative is open? but still, pretty cool that they offer a rwd manual sport car today

vettes are kinda meh to me. not that they aren't cool, but there are just better alternatives for that car. just like, consider the m2 in the op. fastest m2 is faster than the fastest c8 vette. that's absolutely fucking pathetic, imo. kind of a disgrace to the country almost

>Why is no one in the US buying American made products?
Other than cars, what American-made products are there to buy? When the cheapest little shitbeater cars cost $30k new, who can afford to buy those? No one wants to be in debt for 7 years with $500/month car payments... that's a goddamned mortgage. And it's not exactly a prime piece of work, either... American cars tend towards junk, and get worse from there.

I'm not a jap car guy but I would pick this over pictured OP cars or any of the cars the new car defender has pointed to. He says old man cope, but the scope of decades of cars I find of interest is wide, not some specific nostalgia bit. I came up with what I like searching decade by decade. The only time new stuff gets interesting are the concept cars that never see the light of day.

You're alluding to performance, to me that's not the allure, it's the aesthetics inside and out, ride, exhaust note. For me performance is a sweet spot, it needs to be fast enough. 0-60 in 0.0001 seconds is over before it starts, I'd rather match performance to the road, the drive, to savor it. "the fastest" is boring, the typical car guy that's all that matters, that and dressing like a wigger, and rambling off the brands of all the components they've added. You can have that, I'll take all that old stuff you don't like.

We gave up all our manufacturing infastructure and now rely on asian countries to do it for us. look at american soldering jobs (Schiit) they are worse than the first time I soldered. the loss of manufacturing jobs is just the consequence of corporations killing off small businesses then siphoning all of the money out of the small towns.
