First off let me say the ring looks to be a men's wedding signet.
Second of all, I don't think it's an open ring.
Open rings are mostly for women, and a rich man like Charlie having an open ring is strange because they're cheap and very fragile and break a lot. They're not serious rings especially in gold or silver.
Thirdly, even if it was an open ring, for it to be snug enough around his ring finger to stay on til he's shot, then not merely be caught on the pinkie but to wrap around it entirely after the ring would've POPPED off like a SPRING (because they need some spring tension to not permanently deform and shear off) is very suspect
