I've seen way worse gore on here and even the equivalent in my own life. This was still more shocking, something about the reality of a political assassination taking place in broad daylight, at a political event, and on camera just makes it surreal. The weird thing about this is that it's sort of a freak accident.

He was wearing a vest and what appeared to be pretty good one, probably ceramic plate, you can see it's outline. It actually stopped the bullet, but the bullet first went through his shirt, then either fragmented or bounced off and literally hit him right in the jugular. If he just slightly changed the angle he was sitting, it's possible the incident angle of the bullet would change and the bullet could have fragmented or bounced differently, missing it and not killing him.

He actually cared about the culture war and I could tell he was starting to get it. This shocked people because he while he was famous, he had no true power in this country. This week has been a brutal wake up call for normies. I've been saying this for years. Its going to get worse before it gets better. I'm actually much more saddened by a lot of the reactions of my fellow Americans taking glee in his murder. Yeah. I was thinking it over when it happened and comparing it to Rushdie. His attack was shocking, very violent and he lived through it too. However he was targeted for decades, it just happened to take place when he was speaking.
Kirk I want to say could have been taken down outside of an event. I wonder if this was more an act of convenience for the shooter. It's bad optics since it will enrage people who believe in free speech since silencing ones opponent on stage and not allowing them to get their side in after the act will naturally stir up feelings of hypocrisy in people. I'm ultimately a humanist so I don't explicitly call for violence but if they were going to do it, they would have been best doing it before & / after the event with as few witnesses as possible to reduce the risk of others getting hurt and further tipping the societal scales in the broader culture war.
