Free market as it was intended, with no corporations forming monopolies like we have now, is a good thing. Having prices driven down by competition, not these companies setting it up so they gather vast amounts of profit.

We sort of are. The overlords are now tech giants, hoarding our data, selling it on, basically profiting from people's lives, while the people get nothing. During feudal times, the peasants worked the land for the land owners, and benefitted from some things while the land owners profited. Now people allow them to profit and enslave them/us (slight hyperbole, sorry) and get nothing in return.
I was shitposting about liz, the real solution here, is to hold these people to account for what they do. Don't allow them to resign, get a potential payout, move on to another cushy job that they aren't qualified for. There needs to be serious repercussions for what they do.
