I’m not a big Charlie Kirk guy or anything, I’ve seen the occasional YouTube debate or podcast clip, and he’s clearly well-spoken, I agree with many of his points though not all. Seeing the video shook me way more than I would’ve thought.

Somehow I still clung to the idea that if you have the right debater, presenting the right facts, the public could be convinced on certain political points. After all, I more or less developed my politics through seeking out intellectual YouTube videos after certain life experiences. Here’s a guy who went about everything the “right way”, and they killed him. The fact that he has 2 young kids is a whole new level of evil. The logical conclusion is that this was the left symbolically murdering civil discourse in this country, and something about that doesn’t sit right with me.

As for the violence problem, I really can’t say. Right now there are just so many reasons for young people to be mad. They’re disenchanted, disenfranchised; they feel cheated, lied to; they’re pissed. Young women are freaked out about Roe v. Wade and tradwives trending. Young men just want girlfriends who aren’t fat feminists. Grown adults just want to buy a home—and afford to live in it without working 7 days a week.

There are a LOT of problems facing Americans right now. Unfortunately we’ve also got insane people on the loose with high powered weapons making everything even worse.
