Hardly a day goes by that I don't reflect with horror on how hospitals are, as other anon put it, temples of torture and demonic activity. My father and his brothers weren't mutilated, nor their dad/my grandfather, nor any of the paternal men. I don't know about my mom's family. But I had no idea that so many people did this to their babies till I was in pre-med/bio as an undergrad with friends in the nursing program. (I eventually left that because I refused to vivisect animals.)
I remember when my love first realized what had been done to him as an infant, before he had any idea. That was so many years ago. We had been reading online, mention of genital mutilation in girls, we got talking, and me being me I asked, astonished, how was it worse for girls than little boys. He said, "What on earth do you mean?" We talked, I could see him realizing...and then suddenly jumped up, went outside, and threw up, and threw up, and threw up.
I felt so terrible. It was my first realization of what horror it was. That the trauma of it went so deep. Literal torture. That his own parents had strangers do that to him. He had no idea that it could have been different. He had it done to him, his dad had had it done to him, and HIS dad, who was a Calvinist preacher.
Sorry to run on, but this is so infuriating. A literal demonic religion played out on tiny new boy babies. Accepted as normal. A profound wounding of men.

I want to add that he was one of the strongest, most tender men on earth. We talked the topic over maybe half a dozen times in our 25 years of marriage plus five before that.
He was outspoken with men friends and colleagues who were new dads. He'd say right to their faces, "If you mutilate your son's penis I will never talk to you again." He had links/URLs and handouts and facts. They'd go, "WHAT, dude?" and he'd just unload facts.
I'm glad to see this topic here. Thank everyone who went to the trouble. There's so much crap on /pol these days, but this is an essential topic.
