no, it only breaks down into two large pieces: the stock (too large to fit in his pants, and too long, and the barrelled action (the barrel and breach with bolt) also too long to fit in his bag. There are at least three bolts that hold the two pieces together and he would have to assemble. on the roof, so likely the gun was already stashed there, if that is the gun. He could be patsy who thought he was going to shoot, got in position, and the real shooter fired (who is well hidden) and the patsy gets up and runs to distract and get caught.

I don't know. 30-06 is a very powerful and accurate caliber. Its more powerful than a .308. A hollow point would be a better choice than hunting ammunition but 30-06 is a solid choice for the same reasons its a good choice for hunting big critters like elk or bears. There are some bolt action rifles that come apart or are "takedown" models. This doesn't look like one of them. They're generally regarded as pieces of shit with less accuracy, and they don't always hold zero when taken apart and put back together. Again though this doesn't look like a takedown model, and to put a traditional bolt action together you need tools like a press. Not doable on a roof.

What I mean by this is at least they have radios, vests, and basic equipment. Charlie's guys had none of the like, didn't even appear to be armed and likely weren't because being a close protection security agent doesn't give you the right to carry on campus, or in other states or foreign countries for that matter.
