But people see you leave the house, you are tracked by CCTV from the location to and from the university. The gun will be traced to whoever registered it - so unless that gun was simply a decoy gun and was not the one used in the shooting then that will be the gun that is traced and the forensics will match the bullet with the rifling on the barrel. The real problem for him is that he will be on CCTV all over and also vehicle cameras and they can all be linked up to plot his movements before the shooting and after.

It's matter of time. They will go house to house store by store collecting every single CCTV camera there's there. Every house, shop or gas station. By that they will follow not only the route he run away but the route he came. That will finally narrow the district, neighborhood and finally the house. Even +- 1km radius they can simply brute force it by checking every single resident. If the guy lives in the city, he will be found in matter of week max. NOW if he traveled to the city to carry the assassination, it will take longer but still, they will find him. Accept it lads, in todays times you cannot kill someone in public while you live in big city. They will always find your ass by tracking your movement. The only way he can realistically escape is to run overseas, best to some 2nd world country not fucking germany france or sweden.

we don't have a gun registry in the US. at the point of sale there may be a background check but there is no federal gun registry. when you buy a gun it doesn't go into some database. the owner of the gun shop might have a record of the sale or the person selling at a gun show might have a record. that shit isn't reported to the government though. if it was the fbi would know who this guy is right away.
