If you want an actual answer:
China only now is catching up with the US, there was a massive need for infrastructure that has slowly been fulfilled in the past decades. On the other hand America already built bridges everywhere one was needed a long time ago, so there simply is no need for fancy new ones. We have bridges, but they're old and only need to be maintained any more. Also China is quite uneven in parts and requires this shit more.
