18 magical age theory is a religion, questioning it will immediately get its proponents including the most die-hard alleged atheists to start calling you an 'evil satanist who deserves to die'. It's the same exact pattern of behavior a Muslim engages in when you insult Muhammad.

If you want birth rates to go up, you need to return the profit motive for children by reducing child labor laws. The fall in the birth rate especially in recent decades has to do with more aggressive enforcement of 18 magical age theory. Previously, child labor laws were less enforced. Up until the early 1970s, the age of majority was generally 21, but it wasn't aggressively enforced as lying teenagers could assume liability for contracts including marriage & military service, they lying teenagers weren't considered grooming victims, they were simply considered emancipated adults.

Ironically enough Elon became a 'conservative' to enforce 18 magical age theory to counter his trans son. Elon bought Twitter the same week his son turned 18 & filed paperwork to transition, but for TFR to be fixed, adulthood age needs a reduction

I lived in Japan for 6 years. The reason for no kids is horrific work culture. To a lesser extent the same problem is happening in the West. People need to have free time and feel like comfortable with their resources to reproduce. Same as animals. Give them a comfortable life and a bounty of food and the make babies like you wouldn't believe. Corporate profits are ruining so many lives.

the average age of first marriage in Europe was around 18 since the iron age. Hesiod said the ideal age of marriage for a man was around 30 and for a woman 5 years after puberty (which would be ~18-20). Aristotle says 37 for a man and 18 for a woman. Roman girls were granted majority at 12 but this functionally didn't matter, both boys and girls were property of their fathers until they left the household which usually didn't happen until they were married (~16-18 for women, mid 20s to early 30s for men).

Royals & Lords continues to get married as teenagers as they were exempt from the tax. In parts of Western Europe where tribal clan structures continued to resist Feudalism such as Scotland/Ireland, people continued to get married as teens even through the middle ages all the way up until the modern era.

Its not for demand, its for general growth of the economy. The main requirement is an increase in the supply of labor, you want twice as much GDP you need twice the labor. But endless population growth is necessary to perpetuate government and corporate Ponzi schemes. If the population stagnates or (god forbid) shrinks, those schemes collapse. They require ever-increasing profits and tax bases. And they are the ones shrieking the loudest anytime the birth rates drop.
A smaller population would have a higher standard of living, a smaller environmental footprint, less need for infrastructure, higher wages and less unemployment/underemployment, and finite natural resources would last a lot longer and there would be less competition for them.
But this benefits the average person, rather than the elites who see them as nothing but cattle, so it won’t happen. If the native population won’t contribute to their Ponzi schemes they’ll import millions of immigrants to make up the difference.
