it is a physiological problem—not a mental one.
trans people are worth more to the world intact, by their definition of intact. to deny them the credibility that they know what gender they, in fact, are is to shatter the confidence of the human being which has emerged from their body—their confidence in us, and in their own mind.
to then promote the idea that their minds should be forcibly changed to comply with your understanding of the world—you're valuing your theology over a confidence from which a capable personality—worthy of love, and respect—emerges.
ultimately, the dysporia is the illness. and it is a valid response to a very distressing problem—being born with the wrong hardware is to be plunged into existential crisis from as early as one becomes aware.
the humane response—the only logical response, and the response of a truly triumphant society—is to guide our research and improve our technology to the point where we can give trans people the physiology they know they should have.
this technology could be repurposed to the benefit of literally everyone.
some would try to demonize it, before anyone even knows how this tech would work. that is to be expected. vitamin c was first synthesized less than 100 years ago.
we are rapidly evolving, thanks to technology. we could live in a paradise of capable and compassionate humans—or we could panic and crash the car on our way there.
