How will /pol/ defend slavery? I'm a Liberal and I am against wokism and the Civil Rights Act of 1964, but I am for the Civil Rights Act of 1966, and I think slavery is an evil. What are the arguments against that?

what do you mean 'was'? there are more slaves alive today then ever before. Slaver only ended for the west and even then, there are still slaves in everyone's country.

No civilization had outright banned slavery at that point in time.

There had been opposition to slavery on religious grounds (You can't enslave fellow Christians, or fellow Muslims, etc) but that's it.

The form of slavery that spread from the Caribbean to North America did so because jewish (and Dutch) plantation owners found it to be so profitable in Brazil.

The labor shortage could've been answered by immigration, and it was done so. It would've benefited everyone and we tried to do it here, but unfortunately the greed of slave owners won out in the end and ruined everything.

So why don’t you go fight slavery? It’s very common today, still, in africa and middle east. Only place slavery isn’t found is in the west, where white people fought and gave their lives to end it.

I don't defend slavery and my ancestors had no hand in it. Jews sold slaves to rich people, my ancestors were not rich. They were poor Irish who were sold as slaves. Majority of slaves in the US were Irish but that doesn't fit the narrative that it was about race. It was about rich people being fucking greedy to the point of demanding free labor and domination over others. Poor white folk did not have fucking slaves. It's not your fetish imagination of every white person using blacks as foot stools. Only the rich could afford slaves.

Okay, but where is the need to defend slavery then? I would like to have some slaves and I would be a benevolent slave owner, I would treat them decently. They would be happy slaves.

It depends how slaves are treated, doesn't it?

An employee expected to continually produce more without a pay rise is treated worse than a slave that is well medically cared for, fed, housed, etc. Conditions matter, is my point. Is it evil, or even slavery, to expect a child to take over his fathers business, and threaten to write him out of the will if he goes off to school in another state?
