I grew up in Columbus, Ohio and crime was and still is terrible. I was in a part called German village and lived near a park where routinely nogs would steal kids bikes, usually knocking them off and kicking the shit out of them. These are like 9 year olds tops. Constant break-ins and thefts, wrought iron gates stolen for scrap. Across the bridge next to my dad's law office is South Franklinton which was literally always having the EMS called for some shooting. Under the bridge was and still to some degree is a massive homeless encampment where tons of people died of AIDs in the 80s and heroin in the 90s and early 2000s. Now it's just fent and even more recently crank. My best friend in high school OD'd thrice before he was finally able to kick it, but about five or six of my friends either died from drugs or drug motivated shit.
