The republicans are in control of all three branches of the US government right now.
If they cared to put a stop to this they could pass a law almost immediately that says "Actually firing people over tweets that don't break the first amendment is bad", but it was never about the principles, power craves power and useful idiots on both sides support it thinking it will only ever be used against their enemies.
Kind of like when debanking was the hot button issue and the CFPB was making rules to not only combat it but also combat the credit card duopoly. Harris refused to say she'd protect those efforts because donors will telling her they would fund republicans if she did protect them.
Trump didn't give a fuck because despite all of the alleged Republican billionaires who cried about how poor conservatives were being debanked they didn't actually want the rules changed.
So when CFPB got doge'd there was silence until people asked about Debanking at which point the US government said "oh we never heard about that before, here's an executive order that does nothing and we're looking into the issue."

That is a fair point. We do know on the Israel/Gaza topic he was facing some turmoil of balancing donor class boomers and zoomer watchers, who both had opposite views on the matter.
In a positive light you could argue that he was worried about his employees.
In a negative light you could argue he was a snake oil salesman.
I would like to think he was somewhere in the middle.
