The weapon was reportedly a Mauser bolt-action rifle, .30‑06. Not easy to disassemble or reassemble. You need tools, torque,experience, and time. This isn’t a LEGO set.

Even disassembled, that rifle wouldn’t fit in the small backpack the shooter wore going up to the roof. Not even close.

He’s then seen fleeing the scene—no rifle visible. Nothing in his hands.

Yet the rifle magically reappears 600 yards away, fully assembled, stashed in a box in the woods.

So we’re supposed to believe he:

– Reassembled the rifle on the roof,
– Took the shot,
– Disassembled it again,
– Escaped while everyone’s panicking,
– Reassembled it again,
– Then neatly ditched it... all without being seen?

The barrel has been unscrewed from the receiver. That requires serious torque, is usually done with the help of a vise. Removing the barrel is not "field stripping," it is something done by a gunsmith in a shop. This is not some "breakdown" or scout rifle. No way he screws in and torques down that barrel, shoots it, unscrews it, packs it up, escapes with it, and retorques it in the woods.

I don’t think he moved the pieces around, I think they just weren’t visible in the stairs photos.
They probably stayed in the same place from when he left home to his arrival.
Just for whatever reason the limp was not as pronounced while climbing the stairs.
Maybe was the angle the barrel was in his pants which allowed him to bend his leg up but not forward as easily if that makes sense.

I really do not think he left the gun on the roof days or hours in advance.

I've been wondering this too. Assembling a bolt action requires a torque wrench with a specific inch/pound to ensure proper fit and accuracy. There's also no way he attached a scope to it on the spot as it wouldn't be zeroed. Not to mention that synthetic stock and action are both way longer than anything that would fit in a backpack. I suspect the gun was fully assembled and transported in that cardboard box. Why we don't see any images of him with it is a mystery though. It's possible he planted the gun earlier (like at night) and then on the day of, when security and crowds are both higher, he could easily get to it without raising suspicion.
