we live in a world of atoms.
all this ai cant make things cheaper, many things are very, very optimized already.
walmart's profit margin is like 3% on 700 billion revenue. if all humans were replaced with perfect robots, that cost nothing, that never make mistakes, can do all tasks, use no power and never break - the margin would 10% or so. meaning, there isnt that much left to optimize.
and in a world of atoms stuff has to be real.
most of the work ai can do is not real or in the world of atoms.

It CAN work like that when the issuing authority EFFICIENTLY produces/distributes goods and services. For example, right now, China could issue every Chinese citizens a huge issue of new currency to encourage them too buy the goods that they used to ship to America.
It is bad policy in America because of the way the currency is issued, with debt owed to kikes who produce NOTHING but only drain the economy of resources.
This could be a workable system but we gonna need TKD first.

It represents a shift in how the overall economy will work.

Some % of people will still be needed to do things vital to the economy, and some % of people will still be needed to police the society, but most people will need to be doing nothing while still making purchases. The state will step in to distribute the fruits of this automated economy, and they'll decide who gets how much based on things like social credit, it will function as a huge social engineering or eugenics project.

You'll get the $120k, and it will be just enough to buy what you need to survive in the year, not enough to live in the nice places with the good schools, not enough to start a business, not enough to do anything like this.

>You also basically argued for some degree of post-scarcity already existing. So it's like, what are you even trying to say?
destroy the synagogue of satan - this has to happen or earth will be terraformed into hell.
implement real money - gold based - can be tokenized, but all virtual tokens represent real gold/silver in a vault or in possession.
consider a currency based on energy or energy equivalents. (uranium/coal/gas/gold/food). a real currency would reflect the exact amount of energy it takes to make something coupled with scarcity.
doubt there will ever be any post-scarcity when population rises. getting dirt to turn into metal takes a ton of time energy effort. this is the world of atoms. try "living off the land" its almost impossible - most people are so disconnected from the world of atoms they think anything is possible but the reality of living off the land is insane and most people dont have the skills or mental temerity to do it for a few days let alone live like that.
most people with "money" today dont consider the real world of atoms much. but in the end, digital existence is simply a jewish trick.
free money would mean you would only be able to buy fake stuff with free money. like food made from seed oils and fillers.
if post scarcity existed, all the food would be good, but 99% of all food is fucking shit.
the most basic thing people need and want, food, is fucking shit.
TKD is the first step. then have discussions about how to structure society.

The AI runs the factories and robots which receive the money from the consumers.
>why would the owners of the AI allow this
They can pocket all they want because the AI is EXTREMELY efficient at producing goods and services. They will simply devote some of their own robotic workforce to the production of ultra high end stuff for themselves.
When material abundance for the ultra rich reaches a certain level, they no longer need it. It gets boring. Like spending all day in front of a Star Trek replicator printing out gold baubles and designer jeans.
The things the ultra rich will compete over are scarce goods, land and collectables I would think. But you don't really NEED that much land. Especially with the resources to move into orbital habitats and nearby stars not long after.

Yeah, those are the working classes. Meanwhile people getting gibs have been living quite nicely, as have the ultra rich. Those are the two relevant classes in this scenario. And I suspect in the end they more or less become the same class. When anyone can have their own robot army and their own spaceship to go and settle their own planet, there really isn't much difference between anyone, except where you are on the exponential curve. Only a matter of time for the difference.

They can all fund their pension systems. They just credit a bank account. That's how governments spend -- they just credit a bank account. So there is no conceivable way they can't "afford" to make a payment to a pension system. The spending is not dependent on revenue -- the spending comes before revenue.

The only relevant question is whether the physical goods and services, the real resources, that they would purchase with that money will exist in sufficient quantities. Funding something is literally never ever the problem.

Sure, I can denounce the talmud.

Show me the gold standard in NS Germany. Show me the gold standard in Japan. Show me the gold standard in China. Just show me these things! Produce it!

Money is not a real resource. It is a tool for directing real resources. There is no inherent advantage to artificially limiting the supply of money to the supply of gold, or any other commodity. Gold has value insofar as it has industrial value or commercial value. It's not worthless, certainly. But even if you wanted to base it on a commodity, is gold more useful than steel or oil?

It's just idiots who want money to be very scarce so they can oppress and extract other people.

The argument is that the goods and services would be produced in similar or greater numbers, through automation and AI. Now I don't believe that assessment, but the logic is extremely clear.

If the goods and services are still being produced with less or no work (obviously zero work is entirely unrealistic) then it theoretically doesn't matter if less or no people are working.

The entire point is whether the goods that people want to and need to consume are being produced. Not whether some arbitrary work requirement is being met. There are all kinds of reasons why someone would want to work -- stay busy, personal satisfaction, engagement, etc. -- but ultimately the point of work is to produce the goods the society needs to consume to keep functioning.

If every marketing firm disappeared overnight, would that make one bit of difference to the rest of us?

At that point why shouldn't the government just own the robots and reward innovation with something? What good would there be to have private entities own robots that produce shit? You'd need an extreme level of regulations anyways, otherwise a private company that owns robotics that could produce anything they want could just start producing shit you don't want them to. For example if like 3-4 companies would suddenly decide to band together (let's take amazon, google, apple and microsoft) would suddenly decide to have all their robotics suddenly produce weaponry do you think they couldn't just overthrow entire nations if they suddenly made millions of drones? Why would governments risk it instead of seizing control over production shit that is automated? Maybe society would shift from mandatory 40+ years of work to teaching new generations about overseeing production and have new generations do mandatory oversight over AI and robotics production, so everyone just serves 10 or so years as an overseer in a factory and then they live off of mostly automated production.

That's how it will eventually go, the question is how fast we move there and what the path there will look like.
AI and automation are increasingly making more goods and there are less and less jobs. To survive people either need to be given money somehow to purchase the goods or the system has to change such that money is no longer required to acquire goods. People won't accept a situation where they won't get goods, turning to things like crime which is the worst option.
The optimist will argue that UBI system will come which guarantees every citizen a certain amount of production automation produces which will be sufficient to live. The pessimist will seek to ban automation and then create increasingly complicated make a work schemes and heavy bureaucracy that hires people to monitor and punish other people so they fill forms that they are seeking jobs to get their welfare. The end result is largely the same but one system is much more efficient and humane.

The actual issue is immigration because automation doesn't create infinite resources and immigration is non compatible with UBI because UBI will by definition have to be geared to what ever the local area can support but with immigration everyone just auto moves to where it's "best" crashing the system there.

Reducing work time doesn't work because people only work because they get money, if you can get money for working more then people will choose to work more which leaves people unemployed. In fact reducing the efficiency of the most experienced workers brings down the efficiency of the whole system, experts and professionals should be allowed to work as much as they can.
The reason UBI has to happen is because capitalism is efficient, if you then go about and try to make the system less efficient to avoid it you may as well get rid of money entirely and go back to communist style command economy and ration cards.

I am assuming the researcher is extrapolating into the future.
If AI and robotics can continue to improve to the point AI programs and robots can do most any job better than a human, at a lower cost, than that human work becomes not only unnecessary, but undesirable. At that point, it becomes necessary to pay humans for doing nothing so they can trade something to the AI supplied goods and services. because their time, skill, and knowledge will not to worth compensation. The payment could be though gifted stock of the AI companies, or huge welfare from the state, paid by taxing the AI companies at an obscene rate.
It sounds to me more like a hellscape than paradise, but is doesn't sound far-fetched.

owning all the zimbabwe dollars in the world means nothing if there is nothing for you to buy with them
if ~10 000 people owned all the money in the world it would stop being worth anything as money because it's value would be far too abstract for anyone to accept as payment
most certainly everyone else would agree on a different currency or form of exchange that would be pegged to things that are not capable of being produced by robots, are scarce to some degree and have a stricly finite quantity
even human based things like a person's time or sexual intercourse could be used as sources of value if codified and would be infinitely more preferable to the essentially hyperinflated real money because everyone knows how much receiving oral sex is worth to them personally

Believe when I say,

But we are two worlds apart,
Inflation off the chart,
When you say,
You’ll make us all pay.

Tell me why,

Yes, I know it’s too late,
But I print it that way.
Now I can see that we’ve gone off the mark,
From the gold that we used to keep, yeah,
No matter the printing, I want you to know,
The shekels flow endlessly.
You are my fiat,
My sweet green paper,
You are (you are, you are, you are),
Don’t wanna hear you say…

Government creates money. It is an ORIGIN point for money. Government spends the money unit into existence. Spending necessarily predates income -- it must come first.

The national debt is a record of money the government has spent into the economy that it has not removed through taxation. A public deficit is a private sector surplus. Do you understand this? Is this straightforward enough? Debts and liabilities mirror each other, you can get this right? If I loan you $100 it is my asset and your liability. It is mirrored. If you pay it off, the debt is destroyed and instead of their being $200 in book money, there is now just $100. Okay? Simple enough.
