Some funny shit had happened around that event and we both started laughing in memory.
An aunt who had always been distant to my cousin and I came over and shushed us, saying "this is a sad day and that's inappropriate".
I rolled my eyes, I knew who my cousin was and we were both honoring him in our own way.
I don't think it's out of the question for someone to laugh a little at the funny memories they shared with someone after they're gone.
She knew Charlie better than most, just as me and the friend knewy cousin better than most. You kind of have that right to use those memories to ease the pain of loss.
