If he was killed for abortion policy then i'd agree because that would've made him a martyr because he was killed for his Christian beliefs but the catholic church has been kinda gay since Pope Francis so if they don't recognize transgenderism as the abomination that it is (Deuteronomy 22:5), then they probably don't recognize him for being killed for his catholic beliefs, even though he was killed for being a christian, whether or not that was the shooters motive, it's what happened.
I'm not sure what the catholic churches requirements or precedent is for canonization of non-martyr saints are but i imagine its probably strict and that Charlie wouldn't have fit it because there are catholics that have died and spread the word of God to as many people but wearnt canonized, including the many popes that died that aren't JPII
