The first thing to understand about a civil war, is that the US military is overwhelmingly powerful. So whichever side gets the most military assets is probably just going to win. Straight up.
The military is somewhat split in their ideology, but in general the rank-and-file is conservative, while the top brass is largely liberal. If the soldiers obediently follow their commanders, it's a losing equation for the right. If they mutiny, the end result will probably be chaos. The best scenario for the right is if large blocks of the military break off and join their side. Although the problem is, if they defect, they won't have access to all the equipment that makes them such a powerful fighting force. They will also be very disorganized and ragtag at that point.

But several red states have ICBM's in their territories. If they could seize control, they could create a standoff. In some cases you could see the "civil war" be less of a hot war, and more of a game of secession whereby states and territories vote for independence. If it goes by a party line vote, the right would be locked in by the west coast. They'd have to absorb some of Canada, or otherwise chase some of the leftists out of Oregon or Washington.
It wouldn't be a stable situation and the threat of a conflagration would be high. In this scenario, it would heavily depend on what kind of foreign allies either side can muster.

I think from this line of reasoning, the left has all the advantage. They would have China, much of Europe backing them up, they have the top military brass, they have most of the economically productive cities. The right would be pressed to fight for their survival.
Then again if you read Siege by James Mason (I haven't) one strategy the right could use is simply starving out these cities of supplies. They can't last very long under a blockade, only a few weeks, and you'd only need to block a few major highways for it to happen. Gives the right a lot of negotiating power.

Following up on the siege idea. The left wing cities are very much powder kegs. Super high racial tension, with violent nonwhite groups ready to riot. People are heavily unaccustomed to scarcity and would collapse like a tin house under the slightest bit of pressure. The populations are very concentrated and heavily dependent on a fleet of trucks moving in across the highways.
They would have to use what military assets they possess to secure the highways, which are long and tenuous paths. Particularly if the highways go through hills, or wooded areas, they would be ripe for guerilla strikes.
If the cities were cut off from supplies, you could see them be forced to impose martial law. They'd have to warehouse the supplies in concentrated locations, prone to sabatoge. In fact they'd have to become utter dictatorships, which creates other possbilities. Like if you got manchurian candidates in there who secretly supported the right. Certainly an iron-fisted dictator is more likely to have right wing sympathies to some degree.

So in some sense the left has an advantage. But that advantage could fall apart extremely quickly and easily. The right would have to use smart tactics and subversion.

The USA would then lose the world war and USD would no longer be the world reserve currency. The only thing keeping a heterogeneous society together is the currency. While I generally agree with you, I'm not sure this really matters. Mass desertion is a feature of civil war - the U.S. Army would disintegrate in the event of an actual civil conflict breaking out. These people have families, parents, children, that kind of thing. They would see people looting and join in themselves. Command and control would be in chaos, commanding officers likely killed or reduce to a bystander role as entire military units collapse or mutiny.

Any attempt at a civil war will likely result in a military coup that acts to shut down both parties.
The right would probably benefit the most from that, but even the right isn't interested in living under military law. Effectively everyone loses.

They might be liberal but they're still military and will likely align with the path of least resistance to restoring order for the sake of upholding global dominance and limiting vulnerability.
Seizing infrastructure would be the fastest way to maintain power, and that means major cities will always feel the largest brunt of military enforcement.
The point being that any campaign across the breadbasket is going to be long and arduous while taking the cities is as simple as shutting down the grids.

At that point, it'll just be straight up military fascism vs. the red states with the left being completely annihilated in the first few days of combat.
