People underestimate just how close they were to winning. If Barbarossa had been executed according to Hitlers original designs they would have probably won by 1947 or 1948 at the latest. He wanted the Caucasus oil fields in 41. His generals manipulated battle plans to divert forces North for the assault on Moscow. The OKH wanted a France like victory. And oddly enough it might have worked because Stalin refused to leave the city. The Germans were roughly ten miles out from the city center. If they captured Stalin the state would have collapsed due to a power vacuum. You don't know how lucky we got. Well, depending on your views of life now kek
