Have you worn a carrier? Soft armor would not "ricochet". Ceramic armor is an inch thick. Steel would splatter the round and hopefully the spal protection would catch it, but if it didn't then the pieces would go straight into his chin or through the plate (depending on the round)

You can't tell me that nobody noticed the shooter before he fired, this isn't Call of Duty and he would need to set up the shot within line of sight of the stage.
