I love games that are skill-focused.

Ark Survival Evolved was okay when it first came out, some grind to get to level 100, but then you were on an even playing field with others.

However every update since then made it worse. Added creatures that were harder to get and more and more OP. Added play character levels beyond 100 and made those extra levels unreasonably hard to grind out and get. Made the late game all about grinding out bosses over and over with your mega tribe, incredibly mind-numbingly boring. Added tek shit to the game which made the game even more imbalanced and more grindy, before you didn't have to worry about tek, now if you don't have tek you can't compete and whoever has tek is the alpha of the server.

Meanwhile I fire up Dota 2 and I'm on an even playing field immediately with other players and the match is over in about 20 to 60 minutes on average (a few outliers that are over earlier or later). And I can rank up and get paired with better players by winning a lot. Currently on a 6 game winning streak and playing with guys who are only a few tiers below immortal.

Ark takes over my life and makes me worried about constantly breeding dinos, grinding out resources, etc. and one day I get on and our whole base has been wiped while we were offline and literal weeks or months of progress undone with no battle, completely anti-climatic. Then one day you get on and you find the devs fucked up an update, and now your character you leveled so painstakingly is gone, or the cosmetics you grinded out are gone. One day they should down the Survival Evolved servers and all our survivors were gone, and we had to make new ones for Ascended, which just has the same problems but even worse. You might also spend several real life hours taming a dino, finally get it, then it falls through the mesh with you and all your ascended level blueprints and gear/dino gone.
