I think the gravity of her situation is starting to sink in for her
a lot of women get into politics because they have the mind of children and think they're a main character in a marvel movie
then they slowly come to realize the reality of it, they learn about history and how serious politics is at its core, what "realpolitik" means, etc.
I think she was totally convinced that conservatives were completely cooked and the democrats would enjoy effectively unchallenged control
she wanted to get into a lazygirl job where she would not only get positive attention, get to pat herself on the back, and make a lot of money, but with no actual risks to herself
she's slowly finding out that the only people that get into politics are extremely smart and ruthless people or absolutely fucking retarded pawns. there is no middle ground. she's realizing that she is the latter

Democrat party has already decided who the nominee will be, just like they have the last several elections. It's not her, or she would already know she's been chosen --- like Kamala did when they assigned Hillary's team to her in 2018 primary.
