I also question the accuracy of Nielsen ratings in today's world. They take a sample and extrapolate that to the entire population. That worked well when you could assume that pretty much everyone watched TV every night, but these days a large portion of the population doesn't watch TV at all.

Over here we have talk show hosts who have well over 1 million viewers each show. Yearly they are being paid $200-$400k all depending. They also have between 8-12 people working on set and the shows.
I think Colbert and Kimmel had between $15-$20m yearly, and 200+ people working on set and on the show. And that is insane. Most companies listed on the stock exchanges world wide don't even have that many employees.

So the question is how much money does it overall cost to run shows like this yearly including everything. $50m, $100m++?
Regardless, it is insane amounts in Hollywood. Here in Europe you can make big movies that has budgets of $10m and $20m. And that is considered a huge investment. In Hollywood that is shitmoney,. $100m $200m, is probably what it would cost to make the exact movie in Hollywood.

And if you look at the big production companies such as Touchstone, Paramount, Colombia, Universal, Lionsgate. They are all doing shit. They are not investable. Extremely slow growth.
