aside from the tax dodging, it's more of a lack of ethics along with bottom feeding. if something equivalent to easyhotel or premier inn is charging $75 jewbux/night, the jeet will undercut them by $5 to $10, but the rooms will be completely knackered. bed bugs, filth, carpets covered with spunk, decor from a couple of decades ago, linens/towels/curtains in tatters, etc.
they run extremely high occupancy rates dealing with meth addicts, prostitutes, and so on. for some people $5 to $10 is an extra high, and they'll tolerate absolutely grim conditions.
that's most orientals, really. their only motto is "get down the price". they can't compete by creating value. that requires hard work, exceptional management skills, vision, restraint, reinvestment, long-term planning, etc.
