Egypt won't have a choice if the Israelis force all the Palestinians right at their border. They don't want potentially millions of Gazans panicking and trying to force their way in all at once. That would be Egypt's real motivation to attack Israel, to prevent that. The alternative is a massacre as Egyptian border guards desperately try to maintain order.
