supposedly they cancelled kimmel because the program director asked kimmel to apoloize, and instead kimmel said he was going to double down and that it was ironic comedy. abc does have obligations attached to their broadcast license. fcc chairman's warning is appropriate, but since abc acted in advance of the kimmel program going off the rails entirely, the broadcast industry has somewhat demonstrated its ability to self-regulate inappropriate public broadcasting. inappropriate in this case because it is overt lies, and inciting offensive rhetoric. he has a private right to express these opinions, but he does not have a private right to broadcast these opinions on public and licensed airwaves.
