Former longtime Metro patron here. The Gold Line (or whatever this shit is called now; I can't keep up with the new alphabet naming system) used to be pretty nice back when it was inaugurated. This began to change after 2012. Soon, the Gold Line was invaded by feral homeless, druggies, and all kinds of "vibrant" and "diverse" passengers, most of whom did not pay their fare because the Metro basically runs things on the honor system. I witnessed robberies, knifings, drug use, and homeless openly urinating and defecating. These became commonplace on the Gold Line after 2012. After 2016, it was not unusual to see homeless occupy sections or even entire cars for themselves as an encampment on wheels. And, believe me, the Red, Blue, and other lines are worse.
Recently, my wife and I took the Gold Line "for old time's sake" in order to get to a part of the city wherein one is basically punished for driving. Despite the news I've heard about increased police presence on trains, the situation does not seem to have improved. (Although at least maybe it has not worsened.)
I feel sorry for the cities along the new Gold Line extension. Glendora, San Dimas, and La Verne are all really wonderful places to live. It'll be a shame to see them, like South Pasadena and Pasadena before them, overrun by derelicts and genetic losers.
