Does CQB have any meaning in conventional warfare?
>I realized the fundamental reason CQB tactics gained popularity in the West was the War on Terror.
Terrorists lack fighter jets, tanks, and artillery, so most combat occurs in close-quarters indoor battles. Thus, the West believed CQB represented the future of warfare.
The war in Ukraine shattered this foolish notion.
The Russians have tanks, aircraft, and artillery. Most soldier casualties result from artillery bombardment, with actual indoor combat being rare.
>After all, if I can blow up an entire building, why the hell would I bother with CQB?
Ultimately, the Ukraine war has reverted to trench warfare, tunnel warfare, and mine warfare.
