What is the actual point of 'protests' in France? They never actually change anything. The story of modern France is a neoliberal mass-immigration economic zone, and not one single 'protest' has done one single thing to alter this course. Not even a little bit.

just because the French are used to their country going down the drain every 100 years shouldn't mean it's the norm or that you should be cool with yours doing it

There are entire parties in Europe devoted just to pensioners, "Grey Panthers", "United Pensioners" and so on

Élysée has put itself in an impossible position. Their claim to influence was their ability to project power across Europe as a deterrent to Russia, and down the coast of Africa as a bulwark against the same (+ China). In Ukraine they have been completely neutered, but the fuck up is shared between other nations so they have all decided to just give each other perfect reviews and hope the plebs don't notice. However, Macron has led you to a resounding defeat in Africa and his cabinet meetings focus heavily on how to reverse that. If he wants to exert any type of genuine leverage in the world, he needs to control the port areas from Abidjan to Douala, and ideally around the Cape. The Russians and Chinese are very effectively preventing this and if he admits to France that he lost your status as a great power, it means severe collapse. As a result he needs to keep everyone chained in place while ferventing searching for some miracle. As we all know, sending conscripts to Ukraine or Africa is political suicide and that is basically his only option left.
>Tl;dr: his left hook into Ukraine has been shattered and the Russians have grabbed his right wrist in Africa. They are now punching him in the face with his own hands while yelling suka blyat and laughing. Shit is grim and he isn't allowed to admit defeat.

They suffer from a series of incremental delusions. The first is that they are the natural victors of the second world war and the present rulers of Germany due to their semi-independent nuclear abilities. They operate then as if the EU is their continental empire. Ironically so do the Germans. As the EU is roughly on par GDP wise with China (its a false equivalent but for the sake of argument...), and they are its nuclear backbone, thus their two flanks are with Russia in the east and emerging interests throughout Africa. Leveraging their ability to manipulate NATO via Rhodes spies and London's networks, they also see American might as an unlimited resource they can call on to prove their own magnificence. Ukraine dispelled this notion permanently. But their second lever of power is African logistics. In their minds the day will soon come when the eastern Celestials scrape they way into their palace, soliciting protection on bended knee. Its absurd but they believe western port control is a strategic chip tantamount to China's naval ability. So, while Ukraine is painful, those trading routes are fatal. Its the only possible axis of influence they can think of to lord over China, and Wagner is harshly correcting that perspective. This 'incremental delusion syndrome' is a cultural rot within the EU power circles and explains why Kallas can bluster about deterring Beijing after Estonia defeats Moscow.
>They have entered the fractional imperial identity stage of political delusion. For one reason or another they all view the EU as 'their' empire and with it Great Power status. Yes, the great powers of the Baltics with their tank and two police cars. Its all absurd.

Not to mention the strategic implications of the south atlantic becoming a russian/chinese lake. At which point their power projection would rely on permission from the US to transit Panama, fair weather and reinforced ships for the pole, permission from Egypt and the Houthis for the Suez, and very kindly asking Moscow/Beijing for the privilege of sailing unmolested around either horn.
>One can only imagine the threat to their egos being demoted below Yemeni insurgents poses.
