Personally, I would tell everyone I know not to take ozempic. With their stock rising from "successful" pill trials, I would short the company too.
Novo Nordisk is under a lawsuit for semaglutide (Ozempic) of potentially 2 billion dollars and rising. The allegations is that Novo Nordisk did not properly warn people of the potential side effects of persistent vomiting, seized intestines, and permanent eye damage.
Despite having over 20% increased revenue from the year prior ( something like 11 billion dollar revenue increase ) they just fired 9000 employees, including their entire diabetes and obesity education. They say this is " to remain competitive." This is likely a lie. Judging by how I hear even scientists and doctors describe Ozempic risks, it's likely the whole team just lied to everyone.
I've argued with scientists who work on GLP-1R agonist manufacturing that people just slamming Ozempic with no lifestyle change is going to be a huge problem. We have GLP1 receptors throughout the entire body and it's literally crazy to me to see so many people just slam major metabolic-altering drugs without significant research.
The mechanism for the eye damage should have been obvious. The retina is a sensitive organ that uses Warburg metabolism. Usually, Warburg metabolism is associated with cancer cells and there are several papers on GLP-1R agonists inhibiting Warburg metabolism.
