To add a few, from experience:
- Never revealing any more than necessary about themselves.
- Standing higher during negotiations.
- Making people wait on purpose, even if they are available, faking scarcity for everything.
- Seeing everything as a contract to exploit.

>They are just slightly more strategic in doing their surrogates, that's the key advantage they have.

The difference between rich and poor, is only the nature of their business. Otherwise, they live almost identical, superficial and materialistic lives. Rich advantage themselves at the expense of people and their environment. Poor disadvantage themselves by allowing themselves to be expendable to the rich.
There's more of a lifestyle difference between family men and single, childless, men, of the same tax bracket, than rich men and poor men.

When I crossed 8 figures for the first time, I was so excited I told a lot of different people. Not total strangers, but more than just close friends and family. It wasn't pretty. People basically started going to war trying to make me their own bestest friend. I don't have delusions of grandeur or anything like that. Far from it, so I wanted to tell these people "dude, I'm not a genie in a lamp...you can't make wishes and I grant them. I'm not all powerful." And then you get to taste what happens when a person is in a bad situation of their own making and now they can blame you for not rescuing them. It was a total fucking upheaval of my existence for months. My girlfriend hopped off her birth control because now it suddenly made her sick. You could feel the walls closing in. I scorched the Earth and was left with my brother, my sister, and 3 close friends. That has now since extended to quite a few other people since I crossed 9 figures, but no one making less than 7 figures.

I remember realizing "oh I should join a country club" not for any other reason than to make sure I was associating with people who wouldn't see me as the answer to all of their prayers. That turned out to be a good idea. I tell people I'm in finance, run my own private fund, and we discuss markets or economics a little and then move onto the next topic. It's none of the "oh...I want to send my son to this nice school, but it's $10,000...I just don't know what to do..." or "bro...I'm lookin to get into crypto...I have no money and no balls, but I'm ready...are you ready to come aboard?! (you'd be financing this by the way)." That shit gets exhausting. At this point I could write a book on at least the nightmare of what happens when you make money and don't poor fags out. You start to feel like MC Hammer or some child actor. Everyone tries to take advantage of you and you almost certainly need to scorch the Earth once, if not several times. No one prepared me for that.

This story reads believable to me, and it’s also something you can’t unsee. I’m not monetarily rich, just basic middle class, but I’m a true crime nerd who studies cases, and there are quite a few murder cases involving lottery winners. In fact, being forced to publicly accept your check in person with your identity on full display is a nightmare. Once people around know you are very rich, many people become manipulative to the point I imagine becomes an environment of paranoia for everyone around that person, with the rich person becoming the most paranoid. Every single action becomes
>is this person really my friend?
>why are they doing this they didn’t used to be this nice
>how are they all of a sudden mentioning their child’s need for dental work to me
Human interactions become a blur. I imagine this happens to a lot of people who become famous over a short period of time. There is no advantage to being seen as rich, only in being rich. Rich people wear Walmart clothes and drive beater trucks. The slightly above middle class insecure narcissists that just broke 7 figures are the one with watches chains and some stock super car. Managing wealth, as well as fame if that’s a part of it, is a social skill in itself. If it means anything anon, that shit sounds like it sucked because you can’t unsee people you have known or trusted your whole life turn into greed goblins overnight. A horribly sobering experience.

Unlike most of Neo pol I grew up in a pure white upper class town…..

The correct answer is skiing. Travel down a mountain at 60mph around trees and shit and a lot of time it isn’t even real snow it’s this icy shit that is basically a skating rink. They are always getting injured or dying skiing.

Small engine planes too. Rich people are always doing dangerous shit. Rich people are more athletic smarter better looking funnier and superior in every way to poor people except a few key things. One of those things is recognizing danger. They live such charmed lives they think nothing bad will ever happen to them.

I have approximately 13 million net worth, the last thing I would do is tell anyone. I actively pretend to be poor, actually. I have a old large diesel truck that is my daily driver (I haul big trailers as well) that I have old clothing and random non biological "trash" strung around in so that nobody will try to break in to it (never been broke into). Several people have approached me and indicated to me one way or another they think I'm homeless.

I make it a point to moan to my friends/colleagues once a month about how expensive groceries are and how much debt I'm in and how soul crushing my mortgage is. (I own 7 homes and rent most of them through my llc and with a property management firm and have zero debt).

I would never ever let anyone know I have money because people are jealous nigger animals. I mow lawns for fun with a big trailer and old riding mower i bought and one of the people that thinks I'm near homeless rents from me through my llc/management firm and they try to give me a tip when I mow "their" lawn and I always refuse and ask for lemonade instead.

I don't understand the concept of connections. I have never had the luxury of someone I knew giving me a job because he knew me. And when I asked to do something even mildly advantageous for my chances, like ask to consider my resume before others, at best, I was asked to put down the person I knew as a reference, but have to go through the process like any other applicant. Ultimately, none of this helped, and through a combination of skill and timing and luck, I was hired. Connections are like online back slaps and attaboys to me at this point.

Idk, i'm not rich, i'm just some renter pleb but even at my "just enough to save a bit" level of living I still think about odd inefficient things I do. For instance

And I'm sure all the people you had to distance yourself from are going around saying, "Wow, money really changed anon. He completely forgot where he came from," without ever considering it was their own behaviors that caused the rift. Poor people love to pretend they're virtuous because they're not an evil rich man, but then you see them act this way and know that if they did have wealth, they'd be just as greedy and vicious as a Rothschild. It's very awkward

Golf is this game of patience, discipline, self reflection and awareness. It is combined with a culture of deferential politeness. It punishes the hasty, the ego driven, and the sloppy. It is unwelcoming to the loud "gibsmedats" of the world.

Yet...
the very act of creating and maintaining a golf course is one of obscene pride. The culture they have off the field is one of mindless yapping, quick fixes, bloviating and ego.

It's a fascinating double sided coin that lets you get a key peak into the culture that rules the USA. It is almost as if we have created a synthetic outlet for patience, rationality and politeness, so that none corrupts our corrupt "real world."

Tldr, golf is a 10/10 psyop.

Not to doxx myself, but I got mildly famous for writing a book a few years ago that got some attention. And by "attention" I mean shit like, "I am occasionally mentioned in mainstream articles when they talk about 'young writers'" or "I get invited to literary conferences where I meet much more famous authors." Most of the people I grew up with don't even read, so I had always imagined that if I ever did have any level of success, they wouldn't see it as anything more than a fun novelty. Not the case at all. People I hadn't talked to in years started sending me their manuscripts and, even worse, rambling messages about book ideas they would maybe possibly write, and could I reach out to my publisher to please get them a book deal? When I visited my hometown, people would find out I was around and would crash wherever I was at pretending they had "just run into" me. Every time I hung out with someone, they wanted a picture. At first I was naive about their motivations for this until I saw myself in an IG post where a former classmate mentioned that she had been "discussing ideas" for her book with me even though we had talked about nothing like that. From that point on I had to start refusing to take pictures with people like I was some sort of snotty celebrity, which made me feel like complete shit. Even when I figured out a good lie was to say that I had an online stalker and wanted to keep a low profile, they'd still push back and be like, "Come on anon, I promise not to post it. Just a picture for my private collection." No, go fuck yourself. I already told you no, who the fuck are you to tell me otherwise?

And this is just being on the lowest possible rung of fame. Reading is a niche hobby nowadays, and I am a niche name in that hobby. But still, any sparkle of notoriety brings out this manipulative impulse in people to use it to their advantage.

It caused something of an existential crisis in me. I became weirdly dissociated from my own past. When you're young, you dream about achieving success and earning the respect of your peers. Then when you find that success, all you get is a profound disrespect. You become less human than you were before, because now you are this famous entity that they feel should grant them access to "fame and fortune" like you have. You begin to make distinctions in your mind that you can't associate with "those people" and then you hate yourself for becoming the elitist you despised growing up.

So I get you, man. I'm by no means a sympathizer for the elite, but I now understand the reason for their mindset. Most people are just straight up bad, and the only thing that holds them back from being truly evil is a lack of power. It's one thing to understand that intellectually, but it's a whole other level when you have to confront that daily and completely reassess each and every one of your relationships because you now have to be constantly on your guard for people taking advantage of you.

tl;dr fuck this gay earth

> I just hope if one of my friends ever made it big I'd have the prudence not to treat them that way.

I grew up in an upper middle class household, but my mom liked to pretend that we were genuinely rich and engaged in equestrian sports and dressage.

These people have serious money.
Horses and their upkeep cost more than boats, and a quality trained dressage horse can cost a million bucks and drop dead from a stupid accident.

I met several truly wealthy people from hanging around the stables and show ring, and one comes from a family with a name that also happens to be on products that 90% of people have in their house.

His great grandfather started that company, and every family member gets dispersed payments from a trust fund.

He got a million dollars at 18, and 25 million at 25, and another 25 million at age 30.

He’s socked most of it away and has it working for him and quietly runs a nice guitar shop in a nice area, and only people like me who know would think he’s anything other than a small business owner.

He’s still friendly with me, and once told me that I’m one of the few people who ever picked up a bar lunch tab for him that knew who he really was…

I'm surprised at the amount of rich people (rich being relative to what i make) that seem to be into the outdoors. Like if you're poor it seems like the perfect hobby. Shit like camping and hiking I mean.

>Nothing is better than people flexing trinkets, bad investments
I get a big laugh from this, people spinning around on 80k trucks or 100k boats with payment plans flexing it like the broke nigger cattle they are. I bought my diesel truck 25k used on Craigslist and it's a pure workhorse that will outlive me but it looks old and "lame" as I've been told.

I call the phenomenon "nigger rich" and the best example I've ever seen is an old single wide trailer some nigger doesn't even own with a brand new Jaguar in front of it. People are so fuckin dumb. They also love to try to clown your ass too, even in indirect ways because they are afraid of an ass whipping. Just off the cuff stuff like "yeah, it's nice to be able to afford a boat ahhh....". I mean it's all I can do to not laugh out loud at how nigger rich they are. Bro a jew owns you and can repo your entire life in an hour, chill lol

That happens to almost everyone who's a little bit better off than the people he's around. I am by no means rich, but I'm around fuck-ups who can't make ends meet because of really bad life choices. They're always trying to get me to help them out, lend them money, etc. I'm resented when I refuse (which I almost always do).

I'm like hey that's a great idea but please god do some accounting it sounds financially dangerous (these people, man and wife, work at a grocery store and he's a delivery driver and both their parents were broke broke). The guy told me, with no irony, that "it's just a different world when you have money".

>nigger rich
I have a hard time articulating this now, without saying that outright. But you nailed it. People who flex a lifestyle 2x,4x,10x their income yet have the audacity to act like you are beneath them. I work in a vacation town with a beach. Something one of my fellow coworkers pointed out is
>People who are truly rich do not wait in lines
Your jaw would hit the fuckin floor if you were to drive by the rental offices on a turnover day here when you see the line around the block of people in designer clothes waiting in front of high end, $250k cars, etc.. yet are still standing in line to get the keys to a rental. Its bizarre. I dont get it. But if this is how the bulk of them wanna live, fuck em. Hope the trinkets and vapid broads are worth it.

That is fuckin wild, I've seen this before in mild glimpses in tourism towns but never really pieced it together as you articulated. People are fuckin weird as hell. I guess the same is here where people pay thousands of dollars to go on a guided fishing trip where they stand almost literally shoulder to shoulder with hundreds of people basically fishing in one hole, it's like bro what the fuck are you doing

>Cmon kids were "fishing"!
That shit is insanely stupid, but I know people who pay $80/hr to do as you described in the back bay, over a farm. As for the shore tourism, it is ABYSMAL. There are people that pay between $12-$30k a week to stay on the block I work on in rentals for late june through august. Ive heard rumors about people laying out a 50% deposit on a rental, then desperately driving down to try and get it back because whatever loan they were trying to lie their way into taking out to pay for the vacation got denied and they cannot go. Ive heard about people doing this with Disney and International travel before, but this year was the first I saw it happen in my own backyard.

Im with the fishing anon, people watching (rather people making mistakes watching) is fun, but it becomes really depressing knowing you have to exist around them. Id rather just hang out with my dog innawoods.
