First I buy a wallet that a teenage girl would carry; something with cute stuff on it like a Lisa Frank wallet or whatever.

Then I take a raw steak and squeeze some of the blood over the wallet.

I return it, only opening it to find out who owns it and how to contact them. If I can't contact them I wait around for a couple of hours where they lost it for when they inevitably return. I have already done this. I accidentally left my wallet on the back of my boat and I was leaving the gas station, it had like 500 bucks in it and when I got to the restaurant at the light I realized that I fucking lost my wallet but fortunately like an hour later my dad calls me and says that somebody dropped off my wallet at his place and the money was still there. I would probably take it to a local police station so I don't have to track down the owner myself. Wallets don't really carry that much money. MAYBE a few hundred dollars is inside and I'm not desperate for cash so I would just give it to the police and let them contact the person.

Yes, I would do my best to return it. I don't think it would even occur to me to try and keep the money, and I'd feel bad about looking through the wallet to try and find identifying information to return it in the first place.

I've kind of already run into this. Earlier this year, I found a credit card on the sidewalk outside of my apartment building and went around knocking on doors trying to find who it belonged to. I did eventually find the person, and it was a tiny old man who didn't even know he had dropped it he thought he had just misplaced it in his house.

I've lost my wallet two times in my 38 years and both times it was returned. I will return a wallet if I ever find one. I found a mans license on the floor of a parking lot and I mailed it to him.

I found a wallet just a few months ago. Just had the documents in it.
Found the lady on facebook, she was from Bosnia. Met up with her cousin, returned the wallet, refused the money he was gonna give me as a thank you.
