Destiny has had it worse.
Kirk had one bad thing happen to him. And though it was really bad, by its very nature he doesn't have to live with it.
And if he had've survived it wouldn't have been bad. It would have given him a massive boost to charisma, because surviving an assassination makes you look like God is protecting you to the God-fearing, and serves to prove that you put your life on the line for your views. And people respect views much more if the person sharing those views would literally die for them.
Meanwhile Destiny has to live with the shame of being an outed literal cocksucker.
He has to deal with the fallout of posting porn of women against their wishes which is something people on his side are completely against and has destroyed his credibility amongst his side.
Has to deal with literal pedophilia accusations in an age where people are hugely focused on even legal age gaps.
And has to deal with his own child openly stating that he is a terrible father and he, his child, saying he hates everything Destiny stands for.
Now, while Charlie's views on things are given credence because he literally died for them, and as I said putting your life on the line for your views makes you much more credible to the everyman, having your family turn on you and your views destroys your credibility.
Kirk, at the very least, got to go out as a martyr, which people find interesting.
Destiny is going out as an embarrassment, which people only find schadenfreude in.
