Variable. Lots of some stuff (like lithium), not much other stuff (like oil). Coastal sea trade offsets this so long as ships can get there.

This. What most people don't realize is, China is wasting so many resources a lot of them are actually becoming scarce.

Take for instance cement. It needs sand, but not just any sand, only the sort of sand you find on beaches works. China has hoovered up so much of it's own sand, they're going around stealing other countries sand. They've literally built so much shit they're running out of sand.
If war happens, China can't just recycle all these old buildings and turn them back into resources. That's not how shit works in real life, and China will still have a sand shortage (made even worse because they wont be able to steal it anymore). Which means China will lose it's ability to build. Which is kind of bad in a war where your shit is being bombed and you need to rebuilt things.

Concrete needs coarse sand. This coarse sand has larger particles with sharper edges, and it is needed to make the concrete strong and durable. You only find coarse sand on beaches.
If you use fine sand, which is what you find in deserts, then you need to add a lot more water to the mix, which makes the concrete shrink and crack as it dries.

Actually, thinking about it, maybe this is why buildings collapse in China all the time. You retards don't even know what different types of sand do to concrete and just use whatever.
