The Church of England decided this week to cover the interior of the oldest cathedral in England in graffiti in order to represent the voices of “marginalised communities.”

The Very Rev David Monteith, Dean of Canterbury, said: “There is a rawness which is magnified by the graffiti style, which is disruptive. It is unfiltered and not sanitised.”

“This exhibition intentionally builds bridges between cultures, styles and genres and allows us to receive the gifts of younger people who have much to say.”

It’s actually stunning how much the elite of Britain hate their own culture and civilisation.

You couldn’t even invent this as satire.

They are literally scrawling graffiti on the walls of ancient cathedrals. Everything beautiful is just torn down and destroyed.

This is the dumbest shit I've seen in a while. The whole point of street art having any value(at least in america, can't speak for europe), is that it takes a run down part of town with shitty buildings and lets people revitalize the area and add interesting wall art, not just gang symbols. They basically cover up the shitty paint jobs and the run down buildings with murals and invite artists, young chefs, businessmen and people who want to develop an area with their own creative ideas but do it cheaply. The last 20 years in florida has seen a dramatic increase in downtown development by using this strategy. Property developers are all fighting over mid-tier florida metros because of this very strategy working. It's the broken window theory in reverse where you add so much paint to the walls that the area gains value instead of looking like a run down, dangerous part of town. Miami did this and it actually works. Lots of graffiti but the murals make it look 10x better. Taking a beautiful church that's well cared for and adding spray painted graffiti is dumb and disgusting.
