There is zero reason to consider whether we should have gone to war with the Soviets. They lost. They are low level producers. Their successors can't produce modern weapons. They left almost no influence when you consider how they were allegedly reaching during the Cold War. Everything they've ever done has been exaggerated or falsified, both by their own propaganda departments to demoralize us, and by our own propaganda departments to encourage us to accept running on an endless treadmill to combat them.
They were never a threat. They never had any power and never exerted any. Their successors inherited jack shit and continue to pass along jack shit. The "eastern front" is a myth. We swooped in and raped the shit out of Nazi Germany almost single-handedly (with what few European resistance groups remained) and the Soviets just jacked off in the snow as they starved to death from torching years of supplies just to spite the Nazis.
Once you realize that the Soviets (and Russia) are just one continuous lie to motivate US citizens to work harder, you start to understand history a lot better.
