Because there are no files; but both sides are scoring too much political credit claiming that there are.
The reason any remaining files remain sealed is because they're mostly unsubstantiated claims by people who can't be fully trusted on their word; or lists of names which have coincidental contact with epsteain not related to the crimes.
In the first example, I would refer to the FBI's 302 form (?) and how it played out, for example, with the JFK murder:

> FBI knows the story is a myth, because the President's schedule had him outside of texas at the time
> but they are still required to document what they are told, so they write it all down in a 302 for
50 years later:
