Because there are no files; but both sides are scoring too much political credit claiming that there are.

The reason any remaining files remain sealed is because they're mostly unsubstantiated claims by people who can't be fully trusted on their word; or lists of names which have coincidental contact with epsteain not related to the crimes.

In the first example, I would refer to the FBI's 302 form (?) and how it played out, for example, with the JFK murder:

Liberal democracy is incompatible with gay rights. People did not take anti gay laws seriously before. "What's the harm in letting two guys sleep with eachother in their own bedroom?" Everyone had anti gay laws ("anti sodomy laws") on the books but noone enforced them. Everyone thought, "they are hated enough as it is, so why enforce these laws"). The truth is you have to enforce these laws. Homophobia is not a virtue, but you have to enforce these laws.
