It's crazy how fast AI is improving
2 (3?) years ago this was the best image generation AI could muster. Now it makes realistic looking videos.

It just pulls images from elsewhere and mashes it together.
Same with textual information it provides. In both cases if it can't find the answer, it'll just make it up which is why text in images looks garbled and its answers are confident lies.

and if they did we would have probably noticed it because Nvidia is the only company making these GPUs.
the earliest they could have had this was 2018/2019. like a year or two after the "Attention Is All You Need" paper dropped and nvda stock went up after that.

>its actually still dogshit even the "cutting edge" closed source stuff.
How would you know? You have never used anything other than the most mainstream normie publicly available models.
I work on the cutting edge stuff every day; and it's orders of magnitude better than ChatGPT and Midjourney and all of that stuff. It does still make some mistakes, which is why it is still being trained and improved and isn't released to the public yet.
>it will possibly take decades until another big breakthrough comes so they try to hide this to keep the bubble going a bit longer.
Breakthroughs far bigger than you can imagine will happen over the next few years. The world 5 years from now is going to be completely unrecognizable.
>they cant scale it to the point where it can do "every" job.
Most human jobs are either extremely inefficient makework bullshit jobs where the person only does about 15 minutes of actual work per day and then spends the rest of their shift mostly fucking off an pretending to be busy when the boss walks by. Or backbreaking manual labor jobs that could have been completely automated decades ago, but it was more profitable to import thirdworlders and pay them a pittance and make them work in psudeo-serfdom.
>you'd have to cover the entire planet in GPU datafarms.
Not the entire planet, but yes very massive facilities will be built in special development zones. Much of the geopolitics of the last few years is much easier to understand when you realize every major power is planning on massive expansion and seizing land and resources for that purpose. Everyone knows that the first power to reach a critical level of AI development will rule over everyone else for the foreseeable future.

A mark by the beast which it is of course
One which allows for economic participation of the economy governed by a DNA-biometrically secured digital id
One that goes in either forehead or hand and might as well give you neo fron the matrix direct downloads of all trade secrets and knowledge
You will enjoy it for about 3 and 1/2 years, give or take, bwcause that world will be nothing like today and full of sorrow and trouble too
More to the point however, if you embrace said mark, you will burn in hell for eternity

I mean everything about AI seems like disclosure rather than discovery. We know that the government must by law release their secret shit after 25 years if it doesn't threaten "National Security". The US government probably hit the wall with this shit 25 years ago. And they know you can't take it much farther than it already is so there's no problem releasing it.

It was barely two year ago that you couldn't prompt an image and get an output that wasn't anything other than a spoopy horror show that required five minutes of hardcore grinding to generatr. Now we have near perfect video with matching audio in the same amount of time. That took just two years. This does not happen. And now we seem to be nearing the limits of the technology. So in two years we go from Potato, to bye bye Hollywood.

We were given this hockey stick-like advancement. We didn't build it. And now we're at the top of the stick and that's it. There's no godlike thing waiting at the top like the tech bros thought. There'll only be incremental advancement and discovering cute new ways to use it.

and dont forget the GPU technology is still primitive + powerplants generating the power to run all these GPUs just doesnt exist (the grids are already croaking from the current load of gpu farms)
they would need to open hundreds of nuclear powerplants worldwide. it would take literally decades to set all of this up.

This is cuckold mentality. When it comes to AI what you should be concerned is how it will impact you, your family, your friends and your nation. Not how it will impact Goldberg's bank account.
The question should be how is this going to make my life better or worse, not how can I go to war to protect Disney property from people generating Mickey Mouse fighting Pikachu.

No normal person should give a single fuck about copyright laws until it impacts the consumer. Someone violating muh copyright by generating images of Spiderman? I don't give a single fuck. If someone AI generated a whole Spiderman show and says this is the real Spiderman and tries to sell that to customers, that will obviously be shut down and customers will be protected from a bootleg scam.

The main consumers of all things Disney and Marvel worship copyright laws and companies. They do care where the spiderman comes from.
If Disney buys the rights of Star Wars and none of the original people are attached and they change everything, that's still Star Wars in the eyes of the low test fat consoomers.
The existence of AI won't let you just pretend like you hold the copyright and release your own Star Wars shows and no one will accept them as real and canon.

They'll figure it out. Disney is good at grooming kids. These freaks convinced zoomers to care about Star Wars when it's fucking dogshit that hasn't been relevant since the 70. They'll figure out how to make people care about their content and reject content made by other people.
The simple fact that you have to pay to watch official Star Wars slop will most likely secure its niche as all the merch, the cinemas, the video games will all be sold by the official copyright holder. No one else will be able to just sell Star Wars shit.

At the end of the day this is an issue you shouldn't give a fuck about. Even caring at all means you are a cuck for billionaires.

That's why AI will always need a human interpreter. Because AI utilizes digital image stitching, it can't recreate the sensory analog system our brains use which can catch and correct and analyze errors as they occur.
AI is like a pet, it spits out the tennis ball and asks "am I a good boy, did I give you the right image?" and we go either "yes fido you did" or "no fido, bad dog."
So the top artists will still use their own artistic merits on top of AI.
Honestly the best and most important uses for AI are in the medicine and science fields to help analyze different combinations of chemical reactions to synthesize novel medical cocktails. Also to figure out fringe but important combinations of atoms, and other cellular bonds.
I personally can't wait till top artists though start tracing all the AI art and claiming as their own because they can and making bank off of 90% of the work already being done for them. That is if they're smart enough to profit off it. Pretty sure the average artist afraid of AI is retarded as fuck, but the strong will survive I guess.

Disney lost money because they put female directors in all their movies and shows.
They had scandal after scandal.
Blaming AI videos for it is retarded. The biggest factor is that the shit they make is bad. After that it's probably a long list of factors, like people doing worse financially not being able to buy as much merch and movie tickets, netflix poaching viewers with their shows, the wojak memes making people insecure about buying Star Wars shit, the funkopop bubble bursting killing the sales of Disney merch.
I would say a bigger factor than people watching spiderman shorts is that many stock holders may have pulled out so they can invest in better performing AI tech stocks as they don't see a future in animation and movies.

disney will have a niche as the "official" source long as they don't fail for other reasons. you gave good reasons.
but I also agree with the other anon. if a bootleg offers a better experience then it will also occupy a niche. when a really good bootleg comes along some nerds might do a halfassed boycot but it will go the same as people saying "family guy? that's gay, simpsons 4 lyfe!" or whatever example applies to your generation/language. it happened, people identified with simpsons purism and family guy purism, but it wasn't really something to fight about, just teasing.

Bootlegs can't legally be sold as is. They can try and skirt the bounds with "parody" but even that isn't something that most companies would risk. These people are ripping off intellectual property.

The artists can complain but most artists don't realize how much of a joke they are. Slaves built the pyramids and look at that piece of art. An "artist" calling themselves a professional is comparing themselves to a slave. Who cares if a slave is out of a job. That's called freedom.

You mean acquiring more image galleries? AI is literally an automated cut-and-paste program. It uses a filter in an attempt to make the composite image seem uniform is resolution.

I hope that in at least 5 years there is a good AI agent that can control everything for me. Imagine how sick it would be to tell your computer to do something before going to have a piss, and then when you come back everything you asked is done

Wtf last night I almost made a thread like this. I was looking through my 2022 Ai folder and I was shocked. It was in a way more exciting though. Fresh Ai slop is basically like noise.

We've all dreamt of having a way to pluck thoughts and have them instantaneously manifested into an art form be it an image or video at one point in our lives. Ai back then showed us that we'd reached those gates and would soon open them, it was so nice to have something resembling an actual technological marvel for our time that we holstered our usual cynicism, not questioning what we'd find beyond the gate.

Intellectual property makes no sense.
Besides, LLMs learn by building a large database and then applying probability to determine what an output would look like based on a request.
This is, by the way, very similar to how your brain learns. You read a lot of things, then are asked to write a thing, then you consult the many ideas in your mind formed from past experiences to produce said thing. You aren't 'violating copyright' by merely taking inspiration from these things.
