You can work, but you'll earn enough to live on the streets outside your place of employment. I suppose if you did just that for 5 years or so, you could afford to live indoors. alternatively, google " apprenticeships". so if you live in florida, search "fl apprenticeships". theres a world of solid paying careers doing shit you didnt even know existed. boilermaking and shit like that. for many of them, you can get paid to learn how to do these things and do them hands-on. others, you'll have to pay anywhere from a couple hundred to a couple thousand dollars to learn about it. anything pertaining to automobile mechanic is super competitive to get an apprenticeship for, so if you're not already super passionate about working on cars then forget about it and think of something else.

I can only give an example of a good deal available in my area of the southeastern US.
A boiler manufacturer needs welders. They are willing to pay someone with no experience $18 an hour to apprentice as a welder. Boiler tube welding is very sophisticated welding.
Another example, I know a guy who did not graduate high school. He would hang out at his uncles shop. After a year his uncle told him it was time he got a job at the local metal fabricating shop down the street. Guy got good at welding, worked hard and worked smart. They put him in charge of a crew. He said he worked his crew hard but he made a point to work the hardest.
After running a crew for this company for awhile he got his own truck and crew. He travels to manufacturing sites with his welding crew. He says his phone does not stop ringing with work because he has a reputation for being honest, reliable and hard working. These project managers will pay for crews that are reliable. They have multi million dollar projects on time tables and they need good reliable crews and can pay $$.
These trades jobs are not listed on fucking zip recruiter bull shit. You have to go to the place and ask the front desk lady if they need help. The receptionist will have the shop lead person talk to you to see if you are someone he is willing to give a chance to.
Get a pair of work boots, work pants, (not your fucking skinny jeans) a beater pick up truck and go look for a utility / apprentice/ clean up job.

They hire anybody. If you show up on time and don’t fall asleep and ask questions, you’ll be promoted to supervisor which is where I’m at now. I have control of the schedule so I just schedule myself any overtime before anyone else and make $1200 a week usually to just clock in and chill for 8 hours in an office building.

Join some local laborers union and try to get on some local construction project, meet people who aren't at the absolute bottom of the totem pole and move on to becoming another craft like a carpenter or electrician. Ten years ago I was working retail, broke as fuck, no car, shit apartment, etc. I made a post on Craigslist in the resume section, literally just talking about myself and describing my goals. I was contacted by a company that manufactures industrial electronics and instruments, and they decided to hire me entry-level. I went back to college while working for them and got an AS degree. Ten years and a couple job changes later, I'm working as a systems integrator for a company that makes precision industrial machinery. I earn $140k/year, several weeks PTO, and retirement is secured.

The moral of the story is, you have to be in the right place at the right time. You can improve your chances of this by simply putting yourself in a lot of places at a lot of times. You also need to decide WTF you want because just 'more money' isn't good enough. Good luck.
