I've seen too many examples of this among college grads.The red neck military kid has a higher IQ score and is not outspoken about his intelligence. It's one example, sure, but if the girl who thought she was a genius was actually rigorously tested in college, then she wouldn't be allowed anywhere near lab equipment.

School has really seemed to switch from a test on your intelligence and compliance to only compliance since schools have just gotten even more expensive and people would feel cheated out if they spent all that money and had their parents donate after graduation for really nothing. They'd lose all those donations from former grads if their sons or daughters didn't also graduate. In Ivy League schools, most of the funding goes to grounds keeping and upkeep of the building.
