School is a good model for socialisation as you form groups and friendship and overcome tasks together, no matter the school or teachers. I've always seen them as just a micro-gulag. Technically any societal institution made by USSR was a micro-gulag in its own right. About curiosity I once again know what you meant but based on what I see and teach, the result are different in my environment.
