My alternative is to go full steam ahead with reason and science. Reject assumptions such as democracy and equality will allow us to grow more complex like the Chinease have. Imagine having the resources (both intellectual and capital) of Europe and adopting a morally neutral attitude to governance. We would be unstopable. In 50 years we would outclass the US.

Let me suggest something.
Rather than trying to figure out which religion we shall have in the future (it will be Shamanism but you can ignore that for now) we should stop destroying the world.
Rainforests which produce our oxygen and operate as the safe haven for medicinal plants and a variety of flora and fauna, are being ruthlessly cut down for profit. The oceans are being polluted at record speed, soon all sealife will have toxins in them. The consumer society is putting tons of meat in the market which all has to be thrown away after the day is over. Animals are being grown not for food but to be thrown in the trash.
Natural medicine is being replaced with synthetic Jew-pills.
All of this is unsustainable.
People need to understand, plants and animals are all sacred. Overconsuming is the worst sin. Returning to balance with nature is a real instruction for survival.
It will be another 1000 years before we can set colonies on other planets, and there is no guarantee they won't be excavated for profit as well, unless we first learn to find that balance here on Earth.

You don't though even if you did go through military training. You were eating MREs or at a messhall after training was done. I can 100% guarantee you that you can not survive a 4 month long winter with gear you can carry on your back. You'd fall in an air pocket while snowshoeing or skiiing and break a leg, that would result in you not being able to hunt anymore and you'd starve. Of course that is if you don't get sick before that. Nature doesn't care, humans will fix your busted leg and heal your illness.
And yeah you are correct about plants being superior at photosynthesis compared to human methods (judging though a cloric lens). However at some point we will solve the energy problem with fusion and we'll be able to split as much water as we want. Salt water is one of the most abundant resources on this planet and we will be able to replace trees at some point.
And no I can right now not uncouple myself form nature, but in the future if humanity wants to it will be able to do so. The technology is mostly there.

You don't know shit about our survival skills. We do ice fishing with hook and line. We make tea from pine and spruce needles (great vitamin source) and we know how to make traps to catch rabbits and birds and other animals. We know the location of bear nests, in extreme situations we can go and kill the bear for the fur if needed. We know how to cut down trees and build saunas and small houses. We can also do igloos and lay spruce tree branches to isolate the ground. Making a fire is easy in the winter, the firewood is dry, cut down any tree and you will have dry wood to burn.
This is how our people have survived for thousands of years.
