Pokrovsk is a node that has held the South Eastern front of Ukraine together acting as a supply hub/point of reinforcement. Russia is now threatening to encircle and destroy it and open up the South Eastern Corridor.

Russians have been completely unsuccesful in taking any territory near Kherson because the terrain is impassible.

For Zaphorizia to be captured, the entire area west of Pokrovsk and East of the Dniepr would need to be captured.
