What's /POL/s opinion on the Trump administration's push to BAN kratom?

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has announced plans to crack down on kratom, a plant ingredient whose opioid-like qualities have rattled health officials.

Kratom is often marketed as a painkiller and energy booster and sold with flashy packaging in gas stations, smoke shops, and liquor stores.

Personally I am taking Kratom since 8 years daily. I have zero side symptoms. It helps me to concentrate on my work and genuinely lifts my mood. It's like a warm blanket covering you. I prefer it much over weed.

It's very easy to become addicted to and has a short ass half life so you redose over and over. THAT SAID - I think it should be legal for the fact that it is safer than fentanyl and most of whats on the street. Kratom isn't even in the realm of drugs we should be worried about. You can't even realistically overdose on it (sans you have per-existing issues). It is an incredible stepping stone to getting people off of these horrific chemicals from china that people are losing limbs and dying in droves from.

I will never fully kick it until it's banned.
It's too hard when the fuckin gas stations are selling it now. I'm just grabbing a pack of toilet paper and I have to face down a $7 high that makes me feel great.

If you actually read the report, Kennedy only talked about 7-OH which is entirely synthetic. I've used powder Kratom for over 10 years and it's barely stronger than a good coffee and if you try to up the dosage to get "higher" when it's natural form you'll just sleepy or get nausea and throw it up. I've never used 7-OH have no desire to because works fine as painkiller and energy booster without needed 40x times strength with synthetic 7-OH not actually Kratom. I really hate the junkie types who have create synthetic junk and ruin Kratom for everyone else. If you want Fent or Heroine then just use Fent or Heroine you fucking degenerate tards.

If you did kratom for 10 years and were honest with yourself you would not say its barely stronger than coffee. I did kratom for 10 years and that is not even remotely accurate, kratom is like a crappier form of codeine. Also 7oh is not synthetic its semi-synthesized from mitragynine which is extracted from kratom, but 7ohmitragynine is contained in small amounts in kratom itself, just too small to extract.

In terms of a good euphoric body "buzz" I'd say a good coffee will last about an 1hour but Kratom is about 5 hours so being pedantic okay Kratom is 5x coffee. It's not strong and my point was that upping the dose doesn't up the effect unlike traditional opiates. Euphoria with Kratom is kinda a crap shoot. Sometimes you get a good effect and sound you get nothing other than more energy or relaxation. It's not a very good drug for chasing a "high."

7-OH, formally “7-hydroxymitragynine” is not ‘fully synthetic.’

It isn’t even semi-synthetic i.e. in the way oxycodone/hydrocodone are both synthesized from thebaine, an alkaloid extracted from the opium poppy.

7-OH does exist albeit in (almost) negligible amounts in kratom leaf, and it is also a major metabolite of standard mitragynine, which makes up the majority of the alkaloids found in plain kratom leaf.

I’m not defending 7-OH though, it has the potential to (and often does) become viciously addictive. The withdrawals from 7-OH are often just as bad as most other opioids, and active addiction to 7-OH is expensive and life destroying, if it becomes unmanageable.

Even though it has a lot of downsides, in comparison to other traditional opioids, it’s much safer and accessible to people who might actually need it. For example, chronic pain patients have a lot of difficulty getting painkillers because of the overly exaggerated response to the opioid epidemic, nowadays it’s almost impossible to get something as little as a weeks worth of 5mg Percocet.

That’s where it becomes apparent that 7-OH is not *entirely* useless, but most people don’t have any business taking it recreationally daily.

Also, lack of beta arrestin action, so negligible/no respiratory depression. And it’s relatively safe for your organs as most opioids are when taken orally.

Once you build tolerance, prepare for waking dreams and drooling at the end of a 24hr experience. Only use once every two months is you want to experience "the magic."

Kratom is fine in ground leaf form. There's no real buzz just pain reduction and a barely noticeable mood elevation. If you do it everyday for too long, prepare for 3 rotten days of withdrawal where the world closes in on you and you lock yourself in a dark room.

Both drugs have their uses, but as has been said above, idiots overdo the shit and fuck it up for everyone. Kratom is mild in regular doses and phenibut is great once every two months.

Everything gets ruined. Even mephadrone and MDPV were great before faggots started going on 72 hour binges and walking naked in the street seeing shadow people.
