>a belief in a society with no hierarchy, usually meaning everyone earns about the same
lmao no
you've never read marx
first of all, hierarchy is part of the human condition, there's no getting away from it
so there will always be a hierarchy
even in a communist society you'll always have some people more able than others, and thats a good thing
marx wasn't against hierarchy as a concept, just against the class system whereby the rich exploited the poor and withheld resources in order to control them
secondly, nobody "earns" anything in the capitalist sense in a communist society
base needs are met, so incentives change
also, marx was very explicit about the fact that communism cannot occur until post-scarcity is reached
we've never reached that point before and we won't until AI + automation reach their peak
not that he knew this specifically, but he knew the principle, that ontologically, communism requires post scarcity
because capitalism only makes sense when resources are scarce
because the point of capitalism is growth
and the point of communism is redistribution
but if you're in a state of growth, based on necessity because of scarcity
how can you fairly redistribute? you can't, its a zero sum game
communism is incompatible with all systems based on scarcity
which is why all socialism and communism end up in social cataclysm
and they'll continue to until we reach post scarcity
